The Children are Crying Organization is dedicated to empowering inner city youth to achieve and excel in spite of their circumstances. Issues such as substance abuse, family violence, parental neglect, peer pressure, racism and other critical aspects of our social environment have been explored through the narrative power of our flagship product, The Children are Crying Calendar. This project has allowed us to award The Children Are Crying Dale Young / Ishmael Matthews Scholarship each year for the past 23 years.

 

The calendar is the brainchild of its founder, Muhibb Dyer. This year is especially personal as he approaches a major life milestone. As a seasoned motivational speaker, Dyer’s profound mission has been to instill hope in the hearts of the hopeless and provide a voice for the voiceless. As he turns 50 years old, the calendar takes you through his life’s journey exploring what made him, what drives him, and what sustains him. 

 

The calendar entitled, “The Book of Muhibb: Lessons in Turning 50”, features poetry introspectively penned by Dyer and those who know him best. The prolific writers from his village include some of the best in the art of spoken and written word - Kwabena Antoine Nixon, Dafi M. Dyer, and Anthony Ross. This year's photographers are too many to name as the photos were taken throughout his journey. Co-founder, Deadra Richelle-Purifoy, once again brings the graphic vision to life. In past years, Dyer, Nixon, and Ross have used the calendars in workshops at schools, religious organizations, and juvenile detention centers nationwide as both a teaching tool as well as inspirational gifts.
